Tuesday and Thursday's GT Showcase was a fun way to present students' PSP (Performance Standards Projects) on our Masterpiece unit of study. Thank you for coming out to support your child and walking around and asking questions. I have enjoyed getting to know your child this year!

This year, we have traveled to numerous countries with me as their travel agent. Now, your child will have the opportunity to select a country and become an expert about it. The project will be completed in the GT classroom. If possible, your child will need to print pictures at home and bring them to class. These pictures will be mounted on a poster board to help your child teach others about their country. Some helpful pictures might include the country’s flag, a map of the country, country’s currency, famous citizens, popular tourist attractions or landmarks, traditional foods, native animals, people celebrating their culture during holidays, and any other pictures that will add interest to their presentation. Each week we will learn how to make the presentation better. We are knee deep in researching. I can't wait for each group to share their research and visual aids!
A House is a House for Me by Mary Ann Hoberman is a fantastic story in which we learned that a hive is a house for a bee (and so on). Each student created their own page. See the following pictures for examples! After creating our own pages, we explored the IOS app Brainbean. A couple weeks ago, I sent out optional reading for the summer. If you are looking for something to read, here is the list from the Tx Library Association at http://www.txla.org/new-tba-master-list . |
