What a great ending to Madagascar! Students enjoyed an informative video on the care of hissing cockroaches from Madagascar! We then packed our bags to go on a trip to Canada! We learned all about the Provinces and Territories. Most classes were able to compare the National Anthems! Students in 4th grade worked hard on the Masterpiece Unit. They revamped their straw sculpture masterpiece and gave it a name. They had lots of fun completing the sculpture. Some of my friends had to really exercise Growth Mindset when it did not turn out the way he/she wanted it to, Lots of great discussion going on! Robotics is really ramping up in 5th grade! We are building and programming from the brick. Lots of engineering happening! I want to take the time to say a big thank you to my students that took the time to take pictures this week. It is a big job to make sure that you get everyone with permission and for them to not be blurry. I could not keep up with this blog without you.

Thank you so much for sending pencils, tissues, glue sticks, dry erase markers and even a gift card. Donating those materials to my classroom is a big help and I appreciate all of it! A big thank you to my parents that donated pipe cleaners and mosaic pieces. I really appreciate you!
Students in grades 1-3 traveled to Madagascar! We learned to say Hello in Malagasy and learned lots of information about Madagascar. Fourth graders discovered what makes a Masterpiece and some students even got to make a sculpture out of pipe cleaners and straws. The groups that have not made a straw sculpture will be making it next week. Fifth graders have opened up the EV3 kits and started building the basic robot. Come back soon to see the videos of basic programs that we will learn after building. All students have been working on stations in GT. Each activity works on thinking skills and groups are selected based upon their ability scores. I have enjoyed watching the interaction of students in each group. As soon as all of my permission slips are returned, I will have a star photographer in each group taking pictures. |
